RaptorPDF is an independent, privacy-first PDF toolkit. Everything you edit, sign, merge, split, compress or convert is processed in your browser — your documents are not uploaded to our servers.
Why we built RaptorPDF
Most online PDF tools follow the same pattern: you drag in a file, it gets uploaded to a company's servers, something happens in the cloud, and the result is sent back. It works, but it also means your document — which might be a signed contract, a tax return, a medical form or an ID scan — leaves your computer and sits on someone else's infrastructure, even if only for a few minutes.
We thought that trade-off was unnecessary for most everyday PDF tasks. Modern browsers are powerful enough to do the work locally, using JavaScript and WebAssembly, without ever sending the file anywhere. So we built RaptorPDF around a simple principle: the file should stay with you.
What "privacy-first" actually means here: when you edit, annotate, sign, fill, merge, split or compress a PDF in RaptorPDF, the operation runs on your own device. The file is read into your browser's memory and the result is generated there — it is not transmitted to our servers. You can confirm it yourself: the tools finish instantly even on a slow connection, because there is no upload round-trip.
What RaptorPDF does
RaptorPDF brings the PDF tasks people reach for most into one browser-based editor, with no software to install:
- Edit & annotate — add text, images, highlights, shapes and notes directly on the page.
- Sign & fill — place a signature and complete interactive or flat PDF forms.
- Organize — merge, split, reorder, rotate, delete pages, add page numbers, and resize pages (A4, Letter and more).
- Compress & convert — shrink large PDFs, and convert PDFs to Word or images.
- Protect — add a password and permissions, or unlock a PDF you own.
It runs on any modern browser — Windows, Mac, Linux, Chromebook and mobile — and there is also an iOS app for people who prefer working from their phone.
Who builds it
RaptorPDF is built and maintained by a small independent team, not a large corporation. That means we can keep the product focused: fast, clean, genuinely free for everyday use, and honest about what it does. We do not add a watermark to your files, we do not require an account to start, and we do not sell or analyse the documents you work with — because with local processing, we never receive them in the first place.
The project is funded by a simple Pro plan for people who need larger files and unlimited use. That's what keeps the free tier free and the tools improving.
What we stand for
- Your files are yours. Local-first processing is the default, not an upgrade.
- No dark patterns. No forced signups to get your file, no watermark held hostage, no misleading buttons.
- Honest claims. We describe only what the tools actually do — nothing more.
- Accessible to everyone. The core tools are free and work on any device.
